NO KINGS BOSTON: Protect Our Vote!

Our vote is our power. Today, we flex.

On Oct. 17, the people of Boston will come together to defend democracy. Our message is simple: Your vote is your power. Make it count.

For past events, the No Kings Boston Coalition has asked you to mobilize on Boston Common for huge rallies. This time, we're asking you to do the organizing.

Ideas:

  • Sponsor a voter registration drive in your neighborhood.
  • Host a Know Your Rights training.
  • Gather your neighbors to cast ballots at an early voting station — then return to celebrate democracy with a block party.
  • Decorate custom “I voted!” stickers.
  • Set up an impromptu party outside an early voting station.
  • Get into the spirit of creative resistance with an art activity or a protest music concert.

Help your community make a plan for what tools of nonviolent resistance you will use if our voting rights are threatened!

To align with the spirit of No Kings, keep your actions:

  • Lawful
  • Non-violent
  • Focused on the power of the vote

Within those parameters, you have creative freedom! We have lots of ideas to get you started here:

No Kings
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
